Title:  Director of Accounting / Finance

Duties / Responsibilities:

Innovative Technologies, Inc. (ITI) a Federal Government Systems Integrator seeks a Director of Accounting and Finance to supervise corporate accounting and financial functions, and to develop the preparation of financial reports and analysis for the company. Under the direct supervision of the President, the Director of Accounting and Finance will be responsible for the planning, directing and control of all accounting and financial matters. This includes preparing the budget; conducting financial analysis and preparing financial reports; developing and implementing an effective system of accounting; maintaining accurate and current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The Director of Accounting and Finance will be responsible for the preparation of yearly budgets and indirect rate projections to maximize profitability. The applicant must have a strong understanding of the financial applications of the FAR to oversee accounting/financial functions of a Federal Government Contractor.

Specific responsibilities and target accomplishments expected of the position include:

  • Performs financial planning, and oversees finances, budget, and taxation.
  • Provides general supervision and management of the day-to-day financial, tax and Accounting affairs of ITI within the guidelines established by ITI policies & procedures and the general expectations of Management.
  • Serves as division's expert on government accounting to assure the division's compliance with existing government accounting regulations such as Federal Acquisition Regulations and Cost Accounting Standards.
  • Interfaces with Government contract office on behalf of the Corporation on government accounting matters, and serves as primary point of contact for DCAA including submissions of ‘Provisional Rates' and ‘Incurred Cost Submission' reports.
  • Participates in the provision of effective business & proposal strategic and financial planning.
  • Provides accounting and financial advice, direction and leadership to management and to the accounting staff.
  • Researches, prepares and submits the annual budget.
  • Prepares detailed reports on financial matters.
  • Ensures accounting and financials are managed according to generally accepted accounting principles and ITI policies and procedures. Establish and maintain internal controls.
  • Manages accounting and financial systems and maintain full and accurate accounting records.
  • Conduct financial analysis and prepare detailed financial reports and statements.
  • Directs and manage audits; Respond to auditors' comments concerning finances and operations and oversee required action to address any deficiencies.
  • Approves the Chart of Accounts.
  • Implement and monitor payment authority practices.
  • Establishes and maintain cash controls.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts.
  • Evaluates the performance of the Accounting Staff and Finance Staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required .

Education / Qualifications:

•  B.S. in Accounting/Finance, or Business with a strong focus on accounting/finance.

•  Generally accepted accounting principals.

•  6 - 10 years of progressively responsible accounting/financial experience in a government contracting environment. Supervisory experience and/or CPA is preferred.

•  Accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR and payroll.

•  Working knowledge of GAAP, FAR/DFAR, SBA, GSA, and Service Contract Act.

•  Strong knowledge of Deltek Costpoint and Impromptu or DPM;

•  Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, & Power Point.

•  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. Must be able to effectively present financial information and analysis to management and communicate with auditors.

•  Excellent math skills and strong attention to detail are required to be successful in this position.

•  Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
