MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN Reporting Relationship Reports to Assistant Chief, Audiovisual Services
General Description: The AV Maintenance Technician
will be the primary technical person responsible
for ensuring the audiovisual systems in Audiovisual
Services (AVS) managed spaces function correctly
on a daily basis. • Provide technical expertise in the
field of audiovisual and videoconference systems
encompassing all related disciplines like operational
system support, troubleshooting, monitoring,
performance tuning, and documentation. • Monitor service level indicators of
equipment using both traditional and online
tools and provide guidance for those working
with the equipment on a daily basis. • Supervise the repair of equipment as
needed in order to keep systems functional. • Coordinate and manage repair of equipment
with outside service personnel and authorized
manufacturer service centers. • Manage and maintain database of Audiovisual
Services equipment inventory. • Recommend upgrades to infrastructure
including replacement of systems and equipment
to meet service level agreement. • Perform technology watch on market
trends advising management on benefits and disadvantages
of technology related decisions. • Maintain system documentation and service
manuals related to installation work for diagnostic
reference, repairs, and future upgrades. • Create and communicate signal flow
diagrams and technical solutions approaches
with software. • Train audiovisual technical staff on
system operation, troubleshooting, equipment
features, and other related technical matters. • Act as technician and operator for
specified AV events. Skills and Knowledge
Required:
• Knowledge of state-of-the industry audiovisual
and videoconference systems and equipment used
in first class conference centers. • Knowledge of audio and
video production tools such as cameras, mixers,
monitors, and editing systems. Must be able
to correctly set-up and diagnose problems with
such equipment.
• Understanding of LAN/WAN hardware and
software for switches, hubs, routers, bridges,
modems, multiplexors, and point-to-point data
circuits via copper and fiber for audio and
video.
• Ability to read schematics and signal
flow diagrams.
• Innovative thinking with the ability
to introduce new approaches to solving technical
problems.
• Analytical and organizational skills
with the ability to prioritize, manage, evaluate,
and schedule work in a busy environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the
ability to supervise small teams. Sensitivity
and tact in dealing with staff/partners/clients
at different levels in a diverse environment.
• Results oriented with a flexible manner
in delivering timely services.
• Good writing and documentation skills
with proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Recommended Qualification Criteria • BSEE preferred or equivalent professional
experience with a minimum of 3 years related
engineering work experience. • CTS preferred with a minimum of 5 years
audiovisual maintenance work experience.
